I want the Government to allow healthcare workers to apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) after completing 5 years on a Health and Care Worker Visa, with no additional requirements beyond the standard eligibility criteria. This would recognise the essential contribution of healthcare workers. I believe healthcare workers deserve a fair and secure pathway to settlement because they play a vital role in supporting the NHS and caring for communities across the UK. Allowing ILR after 5 years would recognise their contribution, improve job stability, and help retain experienced staff in a system that urgently needs them. Healthcare workers face demanding conditions, long hours, and significant personal sacrifices.

I want the Government to add access to free and universal NHS healthcare as a protected right under the Human Rights Act 1998. This would make universal healthcare a guaranteed legal right for everyone. The NHS is vital to life, dignity and equality. We believe adding the right to free and universal healthcare to the Human Rights Act would protect the NHS from privatisation or exclusion, ensuring that no future government can remove access without breaching fundamental human rights.

When the entry clearance was issued it committed a 5 year route to settlement and now govt wishes to extend it to 15 years Its like employment contract mentions 3 months probation leading to full time employment but nearing the completion the employers tells you it will always be a temporary employment contract. Same goes for this change if applied retrospectively, before we made travel arrangements to the UK we were assured a 5 year route & now it says 10-15 years which is unfair by all means.

We healthcare workers request the honourable parliament of the UK to reconsider the new changes announced on 20th November regarding Earned Settlement, especially about 15 years route towards settlement for Healthcare workers. The announcement made by Shabana Mahmood MP on 20th Nov. which says that Healthcare Workers will have to wait 15 years to obtain ILR, firstly it is discriminatory that Healthcare Workers have to wait longer than the other categories, secondly it will allow modern slavery and exploitation by the visa sponsors, because it bounds a person to stay in one job for 15 long years. We do not wish to get public funds rather we want government to fulfil its promise to grant ILR after completing 5 years.

We want the Government to allocate sufficient resources to the NHS/ privately to ensure that all necessary gender affirming medical treatments, including but not limited to hormone therapy, surgeries, and mental health support, are fully funded and accessible without charge for all who need them. Transgender and non-binary people face severe financial and logistical barriers to accessing essential gender affirming healthcare (GAHC) in the UK. High private costs and lengthy NHS waiting lists cause severe distress and poor mental health outcomes. Making GAHC free and readily available upholds the principle of universal healthcare, supports the well-being of a vulnerable minority, and ensures equitable access for all citizens.

I want to make it mandatory for doctors, nurses, dentists and other healthcare professionals to be educated in autism spectrum disorder. I was diagnosed with Autism in April 2025 at the age of 18. I though life would be 'easier' with a diagnosis as I expected healthcare professionals to understand me better. However since being diagnosed I have found I am more misunderstood and doctors don't seem to understand autism at all, more specifically the spectrum. They believe autism is a visible disability, and, if you can't see it, it’s not there. I have posted on social media about this and many people say they have experienced the same.

Conduct a review of current provision and make sure that children & young people with learning disabilities have equal access to mental health care. This group are at greater risk of mental health illness and need specialist support. Without this they could be exposed to serious inequity, unmet need & progression of the illness. Introduce legislation to require professional bodies to include accredited trauma-informed training as a mandatory requirement for professionals in justice, healthcare, education & social care. Embed into standards, inspections & safeguarding frameworks to ensure consistent understanding of trauma. Ensure laws like coercive control & policies such as removing the presumption of contact are applied consistently & correctly, professionals must understand how trauma shapes memory, behaviour & communication. We think that too often, “trauma-informed” practice is misapplied, excusing perpetrators while failing to recognise trauma in those harmed. Embedding mandatory training, including within degrees, would give professionals foundations to identify subtle nuances of abuse, because knowledge saves lives!

We call on the Government to conduct a review of sedation and chemical restraint policies in psychiatric hospitals and mental health care facilities. We want Government to fund mandatory training for psychiatric and mental health care staff in trauma-informed and compassionate care, and increased access to talking therapies, peer support, and non-medication-based interventions. We believe hospitals sometimes respond to mental health crises with heavy medication and sedation, which we think is wrong.

The current level of funding provided to families through direct payments makes it extremely difficult to recruit staff and deliver essential care, often pushing families into crisis. At present, families can only offer less than half of what can be paid to a care agency. If families were allocated funding at a similar level to agencies, we could offer carers a competitive wage that would significantly improve recruitment and retention, while still being more cost-effective than paying a care company. This approach could ease the burden on families and raise carers’ pay, making them feel more valued and recognised for the vital work they do. We believe it could also prevent parent burnout, and support employment and reducing reliance on costly crisis services.

We call on the Government to fund routine COVID-19 booster vaccinations for all NHS healthcare workers, regardless of age or underlying conditions. Frontline staff can face continued risk of workplace exposure to COVID, and lack of access to vaccination can increase the chance of illness, staff absences, and transmission to vulnerable patients. Despite this, absence due to COVID is not treated any differently to other illnesses under standard NHS sick leave policies. Protecting NHS workers protects patients. We urge the Government and JCVI to prioritise staff safety by restoring access to booster vaccinations for all NHS healthcare workers.
