Related records
- related to → A resolution providing for the consideration of H.R. 3208, a bill to amend the Reclamation Safety of Dams Act of 1978, and for other purposes.
- amends ← An amendment making a technical change in the bill. The bill permits the Secretary to authorize safety modifications of dams "notwithstanding any other provision of law". The amendment says such authority is not to supersede the Act of December 22, 1944; 58 Stat. 888, P. L. 534, 78th Congress.
- amends ← An amendment to change the word "modification" to "structural modifications, operational modifications, replacement, or removal". The amendment thus broadens the changes the Secretary may consider in repairs of dams and other structures under the act.
- amends ← An amendment to require that costs incurred in the modification or replacement of structures under the act be paid by the beneficiaries. Irrigation water users would have up to 50 years to repay for the costs, unless they are beyond the users ability to pay, then existing law will be in effect. The Secretary is to determine the interest rate on the cost charged the beneficiaries and is to be reset by the Secretary at five year intervals. The Secretary would determine the proportionate costs to the various beneficiaries.
