Summary
Welcomes the opening of the Berlin Wall as symbolic of the beginning of the process of reform taking place in the German Democratic Republic and throughout Eastern Europe. Commends the people of Berlin for their desire for freedom, their courage and dignity, and their role in bringing about the opening of the Wall. Urges the East German Government to make permanent the freedom to travel, to permit the formation of political parties, and to hold free elections. Calls upon the Soviet Union and East German authorities to remove and destroy the Berlin Wall.
