November 2008 in London unterzeichneten Abkommens: Verbesserung der Sicherheit des internationalen Seeverkehrs, Schutz der Meeresumwelt und der Küstenstaaten vor von Wracks ausgehenden Gefahren, verbindliche Verpflichtung für Schiffseigentümer zur Wrackbeseitigung in der ausschließlichen Wirtschaftszone (AWZ), bei Untätigkeit sowie bei Gefahr im Verzug Möglichkeit des Tätigwerdens des betroffenen Küstenstaates auf Kosten des Eigentümers, Versicherungspflicht des Eigentümers und Direktanspruch des Küstenstaates gegen die Versicherung
