Summary
The bill amends the law, according to which renewable energy will make up at least 42 percent of the total domestic final energy consumption by 2030. Renewable energy accounts for at least 40 percent of the total final consumption of electricity and at least 63 percent of the total final consumption of heat. Renewable energy used in road and rail transport accounts for at least 14 percent of the total energy consumed in the transport sector. The law the effect is that the renewable energy introduction targets, which are obviously too much for Estonia, are abandoned and thus the rise in electricity prices is slowed down in order to promote the competitiveness of Estonian companies and ensure affordable energy prices for Estonian residents.
