Summary

The bill transposes into national law Directive (EU) 2019/1937 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the protection of persons reporting violations of EU law (OJ L 305, 26.11.2019, pp. 17–56) (whistleblower protection directive), the purpose of which is the protection of those reporting violations of European Union (EU) law. A minimum framework will be created for accepting notices of violations of requirements arising from European Union law that have been made known through professional activities, to provide follow-up measures and feedback and to protect the whistleblower. The bill establishes the conditions and scope of the protection of whistleblowers from violations that have become known through professional activity, provides for the personal and substantive scope of whistleblower protection, the conditions and scope of receiving protection, and the ways and channels of notification.
