Summary
Eelnõuga võetakse Eesti õigusesse üle nn kilekottide kasutamist piirav direktiiv, millega (soovitakse 2019. aasta lõpuks vähendada õhukeste kilekottide kasutamist 90 kilekotini inimese kohta aastas. 2025. aasta lõpuks soovitakse sama number tuua 40-ni. Direktiivi ülevõtmise tähtaeg oli 27. november 2016. Seaduse jõustumisel tuleb poodides ostjatele pakkuda kilekottide kõrval ka teisi pakendamise võimalusi, mida juba ka tehakse. Näiteks pakutakse paber-, riide- ja võrkkotte, ka korduvkasutatavaid plastikkotte. Alates 2019. aastast keelatakse poodides õhukeste ja eriti õhukeste kilekottide tasuta jagamine. Kehtima jääb erand, mille järgi tohib kasutada väiksemaid õhukesi kilekotte lahtise toidukauba esmaseks pakendamiseks, näiteks liha või köögiviljade ostmisel või hügieeni otstarbel kilepakendis piima ostmisel.
