Summary
Kriminaalmenetluse seadustiku muutmise ja sellega seonduvalt teiste seaduste muutmise seaduse (kriminaalmenetluse seadustiku revisjon) eesmärgid on järgmised. Võimaldada üleminek täisdigitaalsele kriminaalmenetlusele ning väärteomenetlusele. Laiendada menetleja võimalusi süüteomenetlust mitte alustada või see lõpetada olukordades, kus puudub avalik huvi või perspektiivikus süüdlase karistamiseks. Kõrvaldada seaduse nõuded, mis kohustasid menetlejaid sama tõendi kogumisel ja vormistamisel tegema dubleerivaid tegevusi. Selleks lihtsustatakse menetlustoimingute protokollimise nõudeid ning soodustatakse heli- ja audio-videosalvestiste tegemist (salvestis võrdsustatakse üldjuhul protokolliga), samuti võimaldatakse isikutel anda kriminaalmenetluses ütlusi menetleja juurde kohale tulemata. Muuta selgemaks kohtu roll kohtueelses ja täitemenetluses ning teha paindlikumaks kohtukorraldust. Seadusest kaotatakse eeluurimiskohtuniku ja täitmiskohtuniku mõisted ning täpsustatakse kohtuniku taandumise aluseid. Laiendada kriminaalmenetlust tagavate meetmete kataloogi uute ja paindlike meetmetega (näiteks e-postkasti kontrollimise kohustuse või liikumiskeelu kohaldamisega).
