Summary
Eelnõuga tehakse muudatused, mis on vajalikud Euroopa ühtse patendikaitse valdkonna rakendamiseks. Ühtne patendikaitse süsteem annab taotlejatele klassikalise Euroopa patendi kõrval lisavõimaluse oma leiutise kaitsmiseks. Selline süsteem on odavam, kuna praegu peab taotleja tasuma summasid vastavalt sellele, mitmes riigis ta oma leiutisele kaitset taotleb. Loodav süsteem võimaldab ühe taotlusega saada oma leiutisele patendikaitse nii, et sellel on kõigis süsteemis osalevates liikmesriikides ühetaoline kaitse ja toime. Ühtse toimega Euroopa patendi loomise süsteemiga on praeguse seisuga seotud kõik EL liikmesriigid välja arvatud Hispaania ja Horvaatia. Selleks, et tagada uue patendiregulatsiooni tõrgeteta toimimine, on asutamisel ka ühtne patendikohus.
