Summary
Riigikogu otsuse eelnõu võimaldab 2027. aastal kasutada vajaduse korral kuni 24 kaitseväelast Ühendkuningriigi juhitava ühendekspeditsiooniväe koosseisus rahvusvahelisel sõjalisel operatsioonil. Otsus ei tähenda, et Eesti saadab 24 kaitseväelast kindlale operatsioonile. Panuse suurus ja vajalikud oskused sõltuvad konkreetsest vajadusest ning Eesti otsustab igal juhul ise, kas operatsioonil osaleda. Ühendekspeditsioonivägi on Ühendkuningriigi algatatud ja juhitav 10 riigi koostöövorm. Selles osalevad Eesti, Holland, Leedu, Läti, Norra, Taani, Soome, Rootsi, Island ja Ühendkuningriik. Koostöö keskendub julgeoleku tagamisele Läänemere piirkonnas, Kaug-Põhjas ja Atlandi ookeani piirkonnas. Üks selle eesmärke on võimaldada riikidel Põhja-Euroopa ja Balti riikide julgeolekuohtudele kiiresti reageerida.
