Summary
Riigikogu nimetas Ülle Madise õiguskantsleriks 20. jaanuaril 2015 ja ta astus ametisse vande andmisega Riigikogu ees 31. märtsil 2015. Seega lõpevad tema volitused 30. märtsil 2022. Vabariigi President teeb ettepaneku nimetada õiguskantsleriks Ülle Madise uueks ametiajaks. Kaaskirjas märgib president, et viimased seitse aastat õiguskantsleri ametit väärikalt kandnud Ülle Madise on tugeva akadeemilise tausta ja pikaaegse riigihalduse kogemusega jurist. Varasem töökogemus on tal õigusloome alal Justiitsministeeriumis ja Riigikogu põhiseaduskomisjonis, samuti on ta töötanud Riigikontrolli peakontrolörina ning Vabariigi Presidendi õigusnõunikuna. Ta on tegelenud põhiseaduslikkuse järelevalve ja põhiõiguste kaitse probleemidega ning on järjekindlalt juhtinud tähelepanu vajadusele hinnata õiguste piiramise proportsionaalsust. Ta on seisnud selle eest, et riigivõimu tarvitamine oleks ka kriisi ajal kooskõlas põhiseadusega. Ülle Madise on näidanud end Eesti avaliku õiguse mõtestaja ja reformijana. Ta on osalenud kõikide Eesti Vabariigi põhiseaduse kommenteeritud väljaannete koostamisel, viimaste väljaannete puhul peatoimetajana. Madise on olnud Rahvusvahelise Ombudsmani Instituudi (IOI) Euroopa regiooni juhatuse liige, olles praegu IOI maailma tasandi juhatuse liige.
