The Government announced, in August 2023, that an increase in taxes on alcohol and alcoholic beverages was not on the agenda. The Prime Minister has confirmed this position on several occasions. The system for taxing alcohol and alcoholic beverages therefore remains unchanged, excise duties are increased annually by a limited automatic increase mechanism calculated according to inflation in year N - 2. Tariffs of excise duty, for each tax category, will therefore be increased on January 1 in a proportion equal to the growth rate of the consumer price index excluding tobacco of the penultimate year within the limit of + 1.75%.
