Summary
Mr. Benjamin Saint-Huile draws the attention of the Minister of Labor, Health and Solidarity to the measures put in place for caregivers. In France today more than 8 million people are caregivers and more than 4 million regularly help one of their elders. After the law of December 2015, recognizing caregivers in the labor code, a new multi-year strategy was adopted in October 2022. Despite these significant advances, which strengthen the offer of respite for those who support an elderly, sick or disabled relative, the allocation criteria remain strict and arouse incomprehension among many fellow citizens. Too many testimonies demonstrate that recognition by Pôle emploi as a caregiver remains exceptional and that the rights to AJPA and APA are not enough to assume the daily responsibilities of caregivers. Their situation is therefore neither satisfactory nor operational at this stage and the system does not meet the real needs of families. After real but still insufficient progress, he wishes to know the new measures envisaged for caregivers, essential links in solidarity towards the most fragile citizens.
