Summary
Mr. José Gonzalez alerts the Minister of Labor, Health and Solidarity to the increase in psychological care needs for children. The questionnaire used in EpiCov allows us to estimate that 10% of boys and 7% of girls between 3 and 17 years old present psychosocial difficulties. Between the start of the epidemic in March 2020 and the survey in July 2021, 12% of 3-17 year olds consulted a health professional for a reason psychological. The main factor associated with the child's psychosocial difficulties is the mental health of the responding parent, a high time of exposure to screens and a low time devoted to reading and physical activities. Overexposure to screens can in fact cause: an increase in autism spectrum disorders, delays in motor development and delays in language development, speech disorders, sleep, problems controlling emotions, behavioral and socialization problems, all problems that health and early childhood professionals have noticed over the past ten years. In addition, international scientific literature shows, in different countries, an increase in depressive and anxiety disorders in children following the pandemic. Finally, the weekly activity figures of health establishments, SOS doctors, as well as visits to emergency rooms show, throughout 2021 and 2022, a greater use of care for mental health reasons among children than during the years preceding the health crisis (Public Health France 2022). Consequently, following the pandemic and facing an increasingly digital environment where children are increasingly confronted with screens, earlier and earlier and longer and longer; he wants to know what the Government intends to do to stem the increase in psychosocial disorders among children.
