Summary
Multiple myeloma is a malignant hematological disease with a progressive course alternating between remissions and relapses. Despite progress in the treatment of patients suffering from multiple myeloma, this hematologic malignancy remains incurable to date with a median survival of 5 to 7 years. The therapeutic strategy alternates different therapies to postpone relapse, without there being a standard treatment. Treatments are based on associations between the different medications available with corticosteroid therapy or even chemotherapy. These treatments are generally continued until disease progression or toxicity. The possibility of treating the patient with a new therapeutic alternative is then evaluated. Four new products have requested reimbursement in France (panobinostat, ixazomib, carfilzomib, daratumumab), other older products have requested their reimbursement in new indications relating to myeloma. Their prices are currently being negotiated between the health products committee (CEPS) and the various laboratories. They are more or less advanced depending on the product. All these files are monitored very carefully by the services of the ministry responsible for health.
