Summary
Mr. Bastien Lachaud questions the Minister of the Armed Forces about the serious crimes committed against migrants in Libya. Indeed, for many months the press has made the world aware of the atrocious fate experienced by migrant women in Libya, particularly from sub-Saharan Africa. Images of the abuse of all kinds that they endure have gone around the world. It is not possible that this information has escaped the French authorities, who have moreover, many other means to confirm its veracity and extent. These obvious crimes are not only the work of villainous groups and traffickers since they are also perpetrated in camps in Tripolitania, a region controlled by authorities recognized by France. Despite these facts, the office of the Minister of the Armed Forces announced on February 22, 2019 the transfer by the Government of six French boats to the navy Libyan. In doing so, the Government is complicit in the inhumane treatment inflicted on migrant women in the region. It also acts in accordance with the guidelines of the European Union, which entrusts countries other than its members with the task of “managing” the flows of people seeking to reach Europe while turning a blind eye to the odious mistreatment of which migrants are victims. He therefore wishes to learn from him if the Government has obtained guarantees that the boats provided by France will not be the direct or indirect means of human rights violations and how it intends to ensure that these possible guarantees are not just empty words.
