Summary
Mr. Stéphane Rambaud draws the attention of the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs to the dramatic situation of Christians in the East and more particularly to that of Christians in Lebanon. Indeed, the Christians of southern Lebanon find themselves caught between the attacks of pro-Iranian Hezbollah against Israel and the justified responses of Israel defending its territory. The intensification of fighting raises fears of the outbreak of a wider regional war in the Middle East. Recent events have pushed nearly 1.2 million people to leave their homes in Lebanon and the capital Beirut is no longer spared. In the south of the country, Christian villages were emptied of their population. This is why, faced with this dramatic situation for the Christian populations of Lebanon, he asks them to kindly indicate to him the analysis he makes of the current situation and the measures likely to be taken by French diplomacy in order to encourage dialogue between all parties concerned by the conflict and ask Israel to continue to play its role as traditional protector of the Christian populations of the Middle East.
