Summary
Mr. Xavier Breton alerts the Minister of National Education and Youth on the content of the SVT and economic and social sciences (SES) textbooks planned for the second class at the start of the 2019 school year. These manuals widely disseminate the postulate of gender theory and gender studies, which is in no way scientific, according to which behavioral and social differences between men and women are only the result of a construction of society, without any influence of the sexual body, which would say nothing about what we are and what we are called to become. SES manuals talk about gender socialization, which is imposed on boys and girls by “gender stereotypes”, for example through toys, and which influences the behaviors and professions chosen, supposedly to the detriment of women. They deny any influence of nature biological masculine or feminine on behaviors and deep aspirations. As for SVT manuals, they go even further into ideology and do not respect the recommendations of the program, which rightly bases sexual identity on chromosomal and biological sex. They affirm that this identity “is the fact of feeling a man or a woman” (Nathan), “is the fact of feeling a man, a woman, neither one nor the other or both" (Hatier), "is not innate" (Magnard), that "sexual identity is constructed over a long period", by integrating "multiple biological, sociological and psychological factors" (Bordas), or that "sexual or sexual identity is a personal construction, which evolves over the course of life" (Hachette), that "sexual identity is the perception of what a woman or a man is in a society at a given moment » (Belin). Telling adolescents that their gender identity is constructed and corresponds to what they feel they are is an extremely harmful lie at an age when they often have difficulty esteeming themselves, accepting themselves, and when they need to understand who they are. Of course culture (education, knowledge) is necessary for our development: culture allows us to develop the natural potential that is in everyone and therefore allows us to everyone to fulfill themselves. But what we receive through culture cannot define who we are. Furthermore, testimonies of people who have changed their sex are sometimes provided, as if it were completely normal, when we know that such a change is not trivial. The American College of Pediatricians warned: “The American College of Pediatricians urges educators and legislators to reject all policies that encourage children to consider taking chemicals and changing their sexual identity through surgery as normal.” National education is responsible for verifying the content in order to ensure in particular that they do not disclose any ideology, for the good of the children and to respect the educational action of families (education code L. 111-2) on the one hand, and to respect "the principle of neutrality of the public service of national education" on the other hand, as recalled by the Council of State in a decision of October 15, 2014. Also, it asks to indicate the measures it will take to alert teachers to the ideological content present in the second year SES and SVT textbooks, and to confirm that it will invite publishers to review their edition as soon as possible in order to remove any information based on the non-existent postulate. demonstrated solely from the construction of sexual identity, as well as any information on sex changes and different sexual behaviors, which have no place in SVT manuals.
