   L'université Rennes II a décidé de créer à la rentrée 2019 un diplôme « animaux et société », porté par l'unité de formation et de recherche (UFR) Langues et ouvert aux publics en formation continue. Il s'agit d'un diplôme d'université (DU), organisé par l'établissement sous sa responsabilité conformément à article L. 613-2 du code de l'éducation, et pour la délivrance duquel l'université Rennes II n'a pas à être accréditée par le ministère en charge de l'enseignement supérieur. Il apparaît que, dans le respect de la réglementation en vigueur, la maquette de ce diplôme a été présentée et adoptée en commission de la formation et de la vie universitaire (CFVU) du conseil académique de l'établissement, qui s'est tenue le 15 février 2019. Sur 28 votants, ont été comptabilisés 27 votes « pour » et une abstention. Cette formation s'inscrit dans une approche relevant des sciences humaines et sociales et des langues, disciplines enseignées à Rennes 2, et qui font sa spécificité. Il convient de rappeler que, statutairement (article L. 952-2 du code de l'éducation), les enseignants-chercheurs « jouissent d'une pleine indépendance et d'une entière liberté d'expression dans l'exercice de leurs fonctions d'enseignement, sous les réserves que leur imposent, conformément aux traditions universitaires et aux dispositions du code de l'éducation, les principes de tolérance et d'objectivité ». Dans le cadre des enseignements dispensés au sein de ce DU, l'université prévoit de recourir à des intervenants extérieurs, professionnels du droit et de la protection animale. Un établissement peut, en effet, dans les conditions fixées par article L. 952-1 du code de l'éducation, faire appel à des chargés d'enseignement vacataires, en raison de leur compétence dans les domaines scientifique, culturel ou professionnel. La création de ce DU, qui respecte la législation en vigueur, s'inscrit bien dans le cadre de l'autonomie des universités.
