Summary
The effective mobilization of screening capacities constitutes one of the keys to reducing the risk of epidemic rebound. The emergence of serological tests now makes it possible to complete the range of screening capabilities, even if the limited indications proposed by the High Authority for Health (HAS) and the uncertain nature of the immunity acquired in the event of infection call for careful and proportionate use of them. In his report of May 14 on the “place of rapid serological tests (RDT, TROD, self-tests) in the management strategy for COVID-19 disease”, the HAS issued recommendations concerning the use of rapid serological tests by health professionals other than biologists, in certain indications and under certain conditions, in particular for “patients having difficulty accessing a medical biology laboratory”. In As part of its recommendations recommending that TROD be carried out by professionals and personnel who have previously completed specific training, the HAS has included community pharmacists in the list of healthcare professionals required to carry out these tests. The Government has decided to follow the recommendations of the HAS. Community pharmacists can therefore, since the publication of the decree of July 10, 2020 prescribing the general measures necessary to deal with the Covid-19 epidemic in territories which have exited the state of health emergency and in those where it has been extended, carry out rapid diagnostic tests on capillary blood to detect antibodies directed against SARS-CoV-2.
