Summary

On May 6, the Government unveiled the Écophyto 2030 strategy, the result of extensive consultation work. This strategy represents a change in method. It sets objectives for reducing risks and the use of plant protection products consistent with our European and international commitments in the fight against climate change and the preservation of biodiversity, while giving all farmers the means of this transition, through the development of alternative methods and the strengthening of their support in changing practices. It reflects the Government's ambition to preserve public health and that of the environment in a “One Health” approach while ensuring support for the economic and environmental performance of farms. Within the national Ecophyto program endowed with 41 million euros, approximately €7M will be dedicated from 2025 to actions aimed at protecting drinking water catchments to finance studies aimed at demarcating catchment supply areas as well as activities to encourage and support farmers in these territories.
