Summary
Ms. Sylvia Pinel draws the attention of the Minister of Solidarity and Health to the lack of support for patients suffering from “long covid”, despite the commitments made by the Government, on February 17, 2021, during the unanimous adoption of the resolution aimed at recognizing and taking care of the long-term complications of covid-19 in the National Assembly. Indeed, no “long covid” long-term illness (ALD) has not been put in place. This oversight has serious consequences because many patients, not having the means to cover the remaining costs, are forced to interrupt or abandon their treatment course. Regarding recognition as an occupational disease, caregivers who are not hospitalized or placed on oxygen therapy report a cumbersome and tedious procedure, hardly compatible with their pathological state. For non-caregivers, the evaluation is done on a case-by-case basis. Furthermore, the decree of September 14, 2020 does not respond to the symptoms specific to “long covid” and only concerns post-covid patients. This confusion is regrettable because people suffering from “long covid” present a greater variety of symptoms, coupled with a strong fluctuation depending on the return of inflammatory peaks. Therefore, the priority must be to revise the conditions for the recognition as occupational illness of pathologies linked to contamination by SARS-CoV2. At the same time and as the WHO often reminds us, it is fundamental to strengthen scientific knowledge of this prolonged version of the disease. Also, she would like to know the measures that the Government intends to take to facilitate the recognition and support of “long covid” on an administrative and medical.
