Summary
The health consequences of in utero exposure to diethylstilbestrol are of major concern. Also, since 2006, women suffering from a pathological pregnancy linked to this molecule can benefit from specific maternity leave and be granted payment of daily maternity allowance from the first day of work stoppage and until the start of legal prenatal leave. Regarding cancer prevention of the cervix, the government, particularly sensitive to this problem, has decided to establish organized screening for this cancer. In this context, women aged 25 to 65 who have not had a smear in the last three years will be invited to do so, with full coverage of the smear analysis by compulsory health insurance. The decree relating to the organization of organized cancer screening cervix explicitly states that women exposed in utero to diethylstilbestrol are part of the target population for screening. Finally, beyond organized screening, it should be remembered that the costs linked to cervico-uterine sampling and related consultations are fully covered by the combination of compulsory and complementary health insurance within the framework of responsible contracts, which represent 95% of complementary health contracts on the market. Women are thus reimbursed 100% of their costs in almost all cases.
