Summary

Mr. Quentin Bataillon questions the Minister of Health and Prevention on the regulation of alcohol advertising. Since the law of January 10, 1991, known as the “Évin” law, advertising for alcoholic beverages has been strictly regulated. In particular, it provides for a closed list of media on which advertising in favor of alcohol is authorized. It prohibits advertisements at certain times, those when children are likely to listen. It also introduced the obligation to mention the well-known preventive health message: “Alcohol abuse is dangerous for your health”. However, more than 30 years later, what remains of the fundamentals of this law? There are still many advertisements, even reports on alcohol, the consumption habits of the French described as an art of living. In addition, today, products alcohol-free products are making their way onto the shelves, but are they really there? How can we ensure that the consumer is well informed about these products? Drinks that claim to be similar to the original drink but without alcohol? Wouldn't this be a way to introduce the taste of alcohol to the public? Doesn't advertising derived from alcoholic beverages send the wrong message to the public, particularly young people? Without undermine the freedom of trade, the protection of public health is a major issue. He wishes to question him about the strategy put in place to prevent alcoholism and fight against this disease.
