Summary
Mr. Gabriel Amard draws the attention of the Minister of Energy Transition to the emergency situation at the Bugey nuclear power plant. On January 12, 2023, EDF informed ASN that it had detected a high presence of tritium, a radioactive substance, in the water from the power plant. The maximum authorized threshold is 100 Bq/L of tritium. However, according to EDF declarations dated January 13, 2023, levels of 535 and 618 Bq/L were detected at level of a first well on December 7 and 12, 2022, then 814 Bq/L in another well on February 1, 2023. These measurements were taken during samples taken from the groundwater of Bugey, the oldest power station in France. This radioactive isotope is found in the effluents leaving the reactor. The tritiated water is usually collected and directed via a network of concrete pipes to temporary storage tanks before discharge into the Rhône. This is the fifth leak in 10 years. We cannot believe that such leaks have no impact on the accompanying water tables and therefore directly on the water consumption of the populations. Rather than carrying out its sovereign missions of protecting residents and the entire French population, the State persists, with the complicity of EDF, in keeping a nuclear power plant active. beyond the time originally planned and with worn and dying protective equipment. While, on April 14, 2022, releases of radioactive gas had been detected at the chimney of the nuclear auxiliary building common to Bugey 4 and 5, the total inaction of the Government which persists in doing nothing can be questioned. We must immediately decree the closure of the oldest power station in Europe before it produces a incident with extremely serious consequences. He wants to know his position on this subject.
