Summary
Mr. Bartolomé Lenoir draws the attention of the Minister to the Minister of Labor, Health, Solidarity and Families, responsible for health and access to care, to the development of Lyme disease and tick-borne diseases (MVT), which represent a major public health issue. Each year, thousands of new cases are recorded in France and among them, a significant proportion of patients develop persistent symptoms after initial treatment, what is called “long Lyme” or PTLDS (Post Treatment Lyme Disease Syndrome). Recently, the High Authority for Health (HAS) recognized the existence of this pathology, however, this recognition is accompanied by very limited measures in terms of care, leaving many patients without effective treatment. Additionally, current recommendations prevent physicians to prescribe potentially beneficial treatments under penalty of sanctions. This situation is worrying and risks worsening medical wandering among patients. At the same time, INSERM announced a drastic budget cut in funding for research into Lyme disease, reducing the initially planned budget of 10 million by 8 million euros. Such a decision compromises the development of essential studies to better understand this disease, improve its diagnosis and develop appropriate treatments. The MP asks the Minister when he intends to restore the initial budget of 10 million euros for research into Lyme disease, when this pathology represents a major public health issue and scientific advances are expected. If the long Lyme recently recognized by the HAS is a first step, he asks it what he intends to do to improve support for patients, public information, training of doctors and put in place measures to fully take this scourge into account.
