Summary
The regional, departmental and municipal medal of honor is governed by articles R. 411-41 to R. 411-53 of the municipal code. It has three levels, the last of which, the gold level, is awarded after 35 years of service, in the same way as the medal of honor for work. The particularity of the long service medal is that it takes into account the existence of long careers, with a “Grand Gold” level after 40 years of service. In in terms of equity, this difference in treatment between employees and local civil servants is not justified; especially since in the territorial civil service there are also “long career” situations. It is for this reason that the opening of a reflection on the modernization of the criteria for awarding the regional, departmental and municipal medal of honor and especially its harmonization with the conditions defined for the long service medal for obtaining the different levels.
