Summary
Mr. Fabrice Barusseau reminds the Minister of Labor, Health, Solidarity and Families that access to gynecological care remains restrictive, given the situation of medical gynecology in France. The specialty of medical gynecology, reestablished since 2003, is currently experiencing a decline in the number of practitioners. The breakdown in training which took place between 1984 and 2003 led to the absence of training for almost a generation of medical gynecologists and results in the retirement in 2020 of 60% of the workforce. This void left by former medical gynecologists has not been compensated and the drop in the number of internal positions in this specialty since 2024 has increased this gap. Indeed, in 11 French departments, women no longer find any medical gynecology practitioners. Medical support for women, particularly the youngest, continues to deteriorate, leading to a blatant lack of prevention and monitoring. The consequences are serious for women, who face late diagnoses, complications, an increase in cervical and breast cancers, undetected STIs and more difficult access to contraception. These harmful conditions leave women uncertain about medical follow-up throughout their lives and the possibility to be taken care of. Access to care in France, supported by the Committee for the Defense of Medical Gynecology (CDGM), must be accessible to the more than 30 million women of consultation age, in order to meet their needs. Thus, he asks what measures the Government intends to take in order to increase the number of intern positions in medical gynecology, to allow the care of women throughout their lives and to grant the request for a hearing from CDGM officials.
