Summary
The Government is fully aware of the role of speech therapists in meeting health needs, particularly for people with disabilities. This is why Health Insurance has concluded three amendments over the last two years representing an amount of 70 million euros in fees in order to enhance the activity of speech therapists. These amendments aim in particular to promote the essential contribution speech therapists in the care of children with neurodevelopmental disorders (endorsement no. 18 and no. 19) and to strengthen their important role in terms of prevention (endorsement no. 19). The delays in obtaining an appointment with a speech therapist can indeed be long, particularly in under-dense areas. To encourage installations in less well-endowed areas, amendment no. 19 provides for reinforcement demographic measures provided for in amendment no. 16 by extending the under-dense areas benefiting from installation aid, by eliminating the transition contract and by paying more for speech therapists welcoming a trainee (200 euros per month).
