Production Schools are private, non-profit technical education establishments which train young people aged 15 and over and prepare them for National Education diplomas (CAP, BAC PRO) or professional certifications and titles registered in the National Directory of Professional Certifications (RNCP).  Their main specificity is to train by putting the young person, accompanied by a Master-Professional, in a real situation production (making orders for real customers) during 2/3 of the training time within a “company school”. To date, the network of production schools is made up of around twenty schools, mainly located in Auvergne Rhône-Alpes (9 schools), Pays de la Loire (4 schools), Hauts de France (3 schools), Bourgogne Franche Comté, Center Val de Loire, Normandy, Occitanie (1 school in each of these Regions). These schools welcome around 800 young people and are intended to experience new developments as illustrated by the recent sponsorship between the TOTAL Foundation and the network of production schools in order to promote practical teaching. In order to guarantee them a secure legal regime, a Government amendment after article 11 of the bill for the freedom to choose one's professional future, was adopted in the National Assembly at first reading. He proposes allowing them to benefit from the provisions of the education code relating to non-contract establishments. Consequently, Article 11 bis A of the bill for the freedom to choose one's professional future – the discussion of which is now continuing in the Senate – includes the inclusion of production schools in the list of organizations eligible for the balance of the apprenticeship tax.
