Summary

Equality between women and men is at the heart of the Government's action to enable women and men to find a true balance between family life and professional life, whatever the professional sector. Today, maternity leave in France pursues 2 major objectives which are to protect the health of the mother and child and to facilitate the return to employment of women after a birth. THE Maternity leave has a legal duration of 16 weeks. Non-employed mothers, depending on their professional status, do not benefit from the same maternity leave, whether in terms of its duration or its compensation.
