Summary

On the bases defined by article 119 of the law to modernize our health system, the development of advanced practice will allow non-medical health professionals to be entrusted with expanded responsibilities in relation to their core profession. Both the Prime Minister and the Minister of Solidarity and Health have recently expressed, notably during the presentation of the plan for equal access to care in territories on October 13, 2017, their significant expectations regarding this evolution of healthcare practice and patient care. Consequently, work was launched by the general management of care provision to build the advanced practice model, firstly in the nursing field with the objective of entering training for the first professionals concerned from the start of the 2018 academic year. implementing regulatory texts, in particular a Council of State decree defining the conditions of practice and the rules relating to advanced nursing practice, are currently being developed. Their publication in the Official Journal is planned for the end of the first half of 2018. Concerning nursing professionals who have previously obtained a so-called “advanced practice” university diploma, a specific recognition system will be put in place.
