The Pays-de-La-Loire Regional Health Agency has integrated from its 2012-2017 Regional Health Project (PRS) the need for a significant evolution of regional targets in terms of cutting imaging equipment, which resulted between 2012 and 2017 in the installation on its territory of 9 scanners integrated into the evolution of the quantified objectives of the regional care offer and 15 magnetic resonance imaging devices (MRI). In the As part of the new PRS 2018-2022, the choice was made by this same Agency, in conjunction with stakeholders in the discipline and with the aim of reducing patients' exposure to ionizing radiation, to favor the development of non-irradiating devices such as MRI to replace scanners. Therefore, there is no provision in this PRS for a new scanner installation, at least until the mid-term review of said PRS. 2018-2022, which will take into account the comments of the regional consultation body which will be created in order to monitor changes in the needs of the territories. However, the possibility of an MRI installation and an additional positron emission tomograph installation is planned in the PRS for the department of Sarthe, even though this department also has the equipment rate for scanners authorized on highest in the region (15.8/1,000,000 inhabitants compared to 13.3 regional average). Concerning the subject of medical demography, the problem of density and aging of radiologists is proven and known, and has been taken into account in the orientations of the PRS and moves towards a sharing of equipment between public and private sectors in order to ensure a sustainable territorial offer.
