Summary
The evolution of the workforce in recent years does not reflect a decline in the commitment of speech therapists to a hospital career. On the statutory level, recent revaluation measures, the implementation of which began during 2017, will be completed in 2020. Decree No. 2017-1259 of August 9, 2017 thus organized the reclassification on September 1, 2017 of five rehabilitation professions (including speech therapists) of the category B towards category A of the hospital civil service, at the level of grades 1 and 2 of general care nurses. This first reclassification allowed a significant revaluation of the basic salary since speech therapists today begin their career in a scale increased by 40 index points compared to the category B index scale (approximately 187 euros gross per month). A second reclassification should amplify this revaluation on January 1, 2019, then a third increase will make it possible to reach the final scale on January 1, 2020. These measures should therefore be given time to bear fruit since the implementation schedule has not been completed.
