Related records
- related to → Providing for the consideration of the bill (H.R. 3848) to require the appropriate Federal depository institution regulatory agency to revoke the charter of any Federal depository institution which is found guilty of a crime involving money laundering or monetary transaction report offenses and to require the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and the National Credit Union Administration Board to terminate the deposit insurance of any State depository institution which is found guilty of any such crime.
- related to ← Crime Control Act of 1990
- amends ← An amendment to require the Treasury Department to collect information on currency confiscated in drug enforcement actions and drug-related money laundering operations, including the dollar amounts of each denomination of currency confiscated. The Department would also be required to report to Congress on what other information would be needed to determine whether $50 and $100 dollar bills are used primarily for drug trafficking and other illegal activities, and on what other information would be needed to determine the feasibility of withdrawing $50 and $100 dollar bills from circulation.
- amends ← An amendment to require the Treasury Department to establish a pilot program of recordkeeping for international electronic transfers of funds that would require customers to supply to banks the names, addresses, and account numbers of parties involved in the transaction. The Treasury Department would have discretion as to which specific banks and categories of international wire transfers would be involved in the pilot program. After one year, the Department would have to certify to Congress that the recordkeeping program is cost effective, useful to law enforcement, and not detrimental to legitimate commerce, before the program could be implemented on a national basis. The amendment would eliminate the bill's specific requirement that the Department adopt, by the end of 1990, final regulations concerning the recordkeeping of international wire transfers, but would not preclude Treasury from continuing to prepare such regulations.
- amends ← An amendment to add a new section requiring that Congressional check cashing and deposit services be subject to cash reporting requirements.
- amends ← An amendment to establish guidelines regarding a model statute for uniform regulation of cash transmittal businesses by the states. Specifically, states would limit the fee charged by these businesses for cashing checks to 1.5% of the value of the check or $8, whichever is less. The amendment also requires such businesses to publicly display their fee schedules in English and Spanish.
- amends ← An amendment to remove the stipulation from the Foglietta amendment which requires businesses to display their fee schedules in English and Spanish.
