Indeed, on Saturday August 31, 2019, a bloody knife attack occurred in Villeurbanne leaving one victim and several injured. One more attack which took the life of young Timothy, 19 years old. The profile of the attacker, an Afghan refugee with a more than dubious background for 10 years across Europe and with multiple identities, invites us to question the flaws in migration, but also security, policies in France for several years. Unfortunately, this summer of 2019 was marked by a series of attacks targeting innocent people throughout France. Indeed, earlier in the month, on Saturday August 10, 2019, it was the mayor of the town of Saint-Myon (Puy de Dôme) who was attacked by a man equipped with a butcher's knife. One of his deputies was also injured during the altercation. On August 20, a 20-year-old Guinean national, already known to the police, was arrested on a bus in Nantes while he was also equipped with a butcher's knife, after attacking a BAC police officer who he injured in the face. On the night of Wednesday July 17 to Thursday July 18, 2019, a woman was brutally attacked with a knife in Toulouse. A few days later, on the night of Friday July 19 to Saturday July 20, 2019, a plainclothes police officer was killed in front of a nightclub in Toulouse. Last June (Tuesday June 4, 2019), police officers were threatened by an individual armed with three knives in the 15th arrondissement of Paris near the Convention market, which was very busy at the time of the events. But how can we not also mention the 22-year-old Ivorian migrant who murdered the man who hosted him in Haute-Savoie in January 2019. In February 2019, the Marseille canebière was also deeply upset after the attack on several passers-by by an unbalanced person. The MP then met the mountain bike brigades and the BAC center of Marseille who had intervened on site at the time of the attack, to reward and congratulate them. Finally, she would like to be able to compare these attacks with the attacks of previous years in order to to establish whether there is indeed an increase in this format of violence in France, and in what proportions.
