Summary
Mr. Antoine Armand draws the attention of the Minister of Public Action, Civil Service and Simplification to the modalities for awarding the customs medal of honor and to the opportunity to change it in order to better recognize the commitment of agents throughout their career. Currently, this decoration has only one level and can only be awarded once, regardless of seniority or nature of the services rendered by the agent. This specificity contrasts with the existing systems in other aspects of the civil service or within other state bodies, such as the national police, the gendarmerie, or the territorial civil service, where medals at several levels (bronze, silver, gold) allow progressive recognition, at different stages of the career. The missions carried out by customs officers are yet fundamental: the fight against fraud and trafficking, border protection, control of strategic goods, application of economic regulations... Their daily commitment deserves recognition that lives up to these responsibilities. In this perspective, the creation of several levels of the customs medal of honor, based on the model of other professional decorations of the State, could contribute to strengthening the motivation and pride of belonging of agents, without significant budgetary cost. He therefore wishes to know if the Government would consider initiating a reform of the regulatory framework of the customs medal of honor, in order to allow progressive recognition, fair and consistent with the practices of other public service bodies.
