Mr. Pierre Cordier draws the attention of the Minister of Agriculture and Food to the consequences of the increase in fuel prices decided by the Government, in particular for farmers. Indeed, farmers who use non-road diesel (NRG) as part of the operation of their machines and their activity suffer as individuals but also as professionals from this measure. Certainly, the use of non-road diesel gives access to advantageous taxation which results in the possibility for professionals in the agricultural sector to be reimbursed part of the domestic consumption tax on GNR. But the price of non-road diesel (GNR) has seen its prices increase by 30% in one year, with the price of a liter going from 70 cents in June 2017 to 1 euro in June 2018. Non-road diesel has therefore increased by more than 250 euros per 1,000 liters in one year. The fuel item represents a very significant part of the costs weighing on farmers. With the increase in the price of non-road diesel, which they use in particular for their tractors, some of them expect to see their costs increase by 4,000 to 8,000 euros per year. Such a sum is considerable, especially when we know the difficulty for professionals in the agricultural sector to pass on the effects of an increase in their expenses on the selling price of their products. The rise in fuel prices risks leading to agricultural abandonment on land with low potential, and therefore a cessation of agricultural activity, and will further accentuate the serious economic difficulties faced by many farmers. He therefore wishes to know the measures envisaged by the Government to compensate for the increase in fuel taxes, particularly for farmers.
