C'est le cas du Nosema ceranae qui se développe dans les cellules de l'intestin et cause d'importants dégâts sanitaires dans les ruches. Il provoque une perturbation endocrinienne au sein des colonies et sert de porte d'entrée à des virus, comme celui de la maladie noire. Phénomène inquiétant, Nosema ceranae s'avère plus actif dans le sud de la France que dans le nord. Le changement climatique peut faire craindre un développement croissant de ce champignon face auquel les apiculteurs sont démunis. D'autres maladies fongiques comme le couvain plâtré ou le couvain pétrifié touchent environ 10 % des ruches. Les experts estiment que la dynamique de population est freinée de 10 à 30 % selon le taux d'infestation. L'autre conséquence des maladies fongiques pour l'apiculture est indirecte mais tout aussi réelle. Les maladies fongiques réduisent la biodiversité et donc la qualité du bol alimentaire des butineuses ; les défenses immunitaires des abeilles sont affaiblies, ce qui peut entraîner des phénomènes de surmortalité. Les experts de l'ONU sur la biodiversité (IPBES) viennent d'ailleurs de publier un rapport alarmant sur cette perte de biodiversité. Les années fastes, les oléo-protéagineux (colza et tournesol notamment) assurent environ les deux-tiers de la production de miel en France directement, ou indirectement en contribuant au développement des colonies permettant de récolter d'autres miellées. Les moyens de lutte existent. Pour être efficaces, les agriculteurs doivent avoir à leur disposition une large palette d'outils adaptés à toutes les situations en prenant notamment en compte les conditions pédoclimatiques. Les difficultés techniques rencontrées par les agriculteurs font craindre aux apiculteurs une réduction de ces cultures agricoles mellifères pourtant indispensables à l'alimentation des abeilles et à la production de miel. C'est donc tout l'équilibre de la filière apicole qui se retrouve aujourd'hui menacé par le développement des maladies fongiques accéléré par le changement climatique. Alors que la France accueillera les jeux Olympiques de Paris en 2024, l'annonce de la suppression de 1 600 cadres techniques d'État d'ici 2022 et la réduction du budget « Sport » pour 2019 sont en parfaite contradiction avec l'objectif des performances attendues. Il s'interroge sur la manière dont on peut engager ainsi l'ensemble du sport dans un projet d'agence, de manière aussi rapide, sans que les périmètres d'interventions ou la gestion et le statut des acteurs ne soient définis ni partagés par l'ensemble des acteurs.
